Margaret T. Burroughs was an educator, artist, writer, political activist and institution builder. She helped found the South Side Community Art Center and later the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago.
An energetic storyteller, Burroughs carried narrative into lithographs, woodcuts and linocuts. Much of her work engages social commentary, oppression, race and the responsibilities of community life.
Her role in Seven Voices extends beyond individual prints: her career demonstrates how artistic practice, education and institution building can reinforce one another across generations.
